Veterinarian

Being a vet

Veterinarians care for animals health. Diagnose, research and treat injury, disease and other medical problems. Being a vet is a great job. They make about $82,000 a year, have the title of doctor and get to work with animals. Plus with population increase there's expected to be a big boom in food and health industries, including veterinarians, increasing twice as fast as average

Their are five main types of veterinarians:

• Companion animals- treat pets
•
• Equine- treat horses
•
• food animal- treat livestock
•
• food safety and inspection- check for disease and sanitary conditions for food animals
•

•
• research- research human and animal disease
•

Though they do need a lot of schooling. Need four years of undergraduate study, a veterinary degree from a veterinary university, ($50,000/yr) a federal and state liscence and usually have a year of on the job training.

A vet must be a good problem solver to figure out what's wrong with an animal. They must have good communication skills to explain the situation to the owner. they also must be able to make big decisions about treatment. Finally,a vet must be generally compasionate towards both animals and their owners.

There's a lot of math involved in being a vet.

You must:

• figure out drug dosages
• make radiograph and ultrasound calculations
• find weight, BFC specifically
• understand statistics
• do accounting in running a practice
• figure out flow rates in fluid therapy

Computer Organization

I just put it under a name I can remember and put Jake in front of it. That way if I need something I just search it and their it is. If I want to see all my stuff I just search Jake and I see all my stuff.

Tagging is a way of grouping files, pictures, ect. You just give it a name to help organize them and put your stuff in it. You can tag on Facebook and other social networks. This is hierarchical organizing system. Social Bookmarking is a system in which I can save websites on another website so I can access them later. I simply get the web adress and put it on the site and I have a new bookmark These systems can be found on systems like Diigo and Slashdot. This is nonhierarchical organizing system. These two organizing systems are very inportant because it helps people with a lot of files and sites that they use to be able to access them quickly and easily.

flying boat

This vehicle, made by Seair, is a true all-terrain vehicle. Though the use of a glider, speedboat and a sand sailor it can travel on land, air and sea. You simply attach a glider to a boat or trike and you're ready to go. it runs just like a regular speedboat or trike and and can take off like a glider. It is $21,000 and only takes a few hours to learn how to fly. You don't even need a pilot's liscence. If you think your  is all-terrain, think again.

I mostly liked this class for this marking period. Some things were a little boring but all together it was a good time. I would have liked a project a little more creative, like maybe instead of a social networking site we could come out with a new entertainment product or something. Still, better than most of my class.

Roofing with my Dad

Are you afraid of Heights?

If not what if it is 20 feet high
On a 8 inch plank
held up by inch thick poles
of different heights
carrying fifteen pounds of shingles
in 20 mile an hour wins?

That's what I did with my dad this weekend. I'm trying to earn enough money to go to Stokes. I can't really complain, I make good money and have a lot of fun. Plus we get McDonalds for lunch.

Long Live Big Macs!
